    Bill Organizer

I was getting tired of my recipts and bill printouts getting blown around (down here in the Sonoran Desert, ceiling fans are not a luxury when the weather warms up). So I whipped up a desk organizer to hold them until such time as I get around to balancing the books and filing them.

I used some redwood that I had laying around from another project. I wasn't bothered too much about the few streaks of heartwood on the edges of a couple of the pieces, since I just wanted something utilitarian. I told myself that it adds a bit of interest to the piece. I stuck in a drawer mainly to fill the space underneath the small recipt slots. Feeling lazy, I spritzed on a couple of coats of spray poly to finish it.

I really like that Gary! Nice job! How did you do the joinery and what are the dimensions? Think I might try that, it would be useful on my office table.

Looks great, Gary. I would need one about the size of a file cabinet!

I would like one that pays my bills for me. Without touching my money. :-)

Nice work! Redwood really looks nice with a little poly!

                  That looks great...wonderful craftsmanship.

By-the-way, I checked with Bill, he was wondering if there were larger sizes, it's a little sung around the waist......... .

The joinery is rabbits and stopped dadoes, all routed out. I just scrawled out a plan and played with it until I found a layout that I liked, then figured out the dadoes on each piece so I'd have some idea of what I was doing when I did the cuts.

Overall dimensions are 6-1/2" W x 6-1/2" H x 11" deep. The slots are each about 1" wide. The stock is all 1/2" and 1/4" thick. I was going to make it about a half-inch wider, but screwed up when I forgot to allow for a couple of mortices in the back. So I just did a little trimming on the appropriate pieces to make it work.

Very nice design and construction. I too, like the heart wood streaks; gives it a touch of class.
