    First Project (Bandsaw Box)

This is my first posted project and my 3rd bandsaw box in a week. The first wasnt that great and my dad sold the 2nd, so here is the 3rd (which my dad is selling). It is made of cedar and took me roughly 2 hours to make. I drew up the design by hand so it may look kinda oddball. I did not get any pictures of it with a finish. Let me know what you think good or bad.

    Beta,

That is one beautiful box. I intend to utilize the finest form of flattery, I'm going to steal your design.

Is that a solid block of Cedar or a glue up? I'm sure the finish made the figure pop. What finish did you use. I have had some mixed results using film finishes on Cedar.

Very nice looking box betacrash, bet that's gonna look fantastic once you get some finish on it. I use brush on Lacquer on my Cedar boxes, pops the grain and takes on a very deep rich color after a couple weeks.

Nice box. Very good for the third. You and Lois have a lot in common, she designed one very close to yours.

thanks everybody. i appreciate the feedback. it is a glue up of 6 pieces. the finish was laquer. i definitely like no finish better, cuz it confuses my nose to smell both the laquer and the cedar (i left the inside of the drawers unfinished). I have some walnut and some maple that I am getting ready to cut up so I will post those when I am done. I draw all of my designs in corel draw so if anyone wants the pattern, just tell me what size and I will send it to you.

Is that a "Cobra", from the book "making beautiful boxes with your bandsaw"?? Nicely done. Obviously I have that book, very good read. Congradulations on your box.
