    Cedar Chest Christmas Presents

My father-in-law was a woodworker for many years. A couple of years ago his health reached the point of preventing him from being able to spend any time in the shop. Following a difficlut time last year, going in and out of the hospital, he died the Tuesday before Christmas. Well, before he had to give up woodworking, he had started two cedar chests--one for my daughter and one for her cousin. My mother-in-law decided to go ahead and give the girls their chests and then asked me to finish them. Now that winter has mostly passed, I have finally completed them. All they really needed was to be sanded and the finish applied. Now that these are complete, I can begin work on two bedside tables he had started for my son and his cousin.

Beautiful gifts that should be appreciated even more because of the way they were finished.

Before my wife's father passed he had cut a corner shelf for her and I assembled and finished it. The cut offs from it were still in the shop when i cleaned it up after the funeral.

Those will certainly be appreciated and from the looks of them he was an excellent woodworker.

                              Joseph,
You did a great job in finishing a family heirloom. Your name will be linked to that project forever.

I have been wanting to make a curved top cedar chest for quite awhile. Could we get a closer picture on the top, and how he did them?
                              Thanks!
