    Steamer Trunk

Well, it's not quite finished, but probably 99% of it. It's a gift for my middle daughter, I haven't built anything for her yet, and it was her turn. (I'd already built something for each of her sisters). Since I've only been woodworking for about 2 years now, I'm still really slow to plan and execute. I still have yet to order and mount the latch (marked by the blue tape on the front). I know Rockler has the one I want, but I haven't figured what else to order with it, so I'm procrastinating.

ID:	788732 These mitered splines were really hard to get just right...I don't think I got all of them dead-on.

Built from Woodsmith #73, it's 36.5"W X 16.125"H X 20.5"D. Oak ply, red oak, and tongue in groove cedar closet lining, with cherry stain and 6 coats of wipe-on poly. Sucker weighs about 60 lbs empty. I wanted it to be an heirloom for her daughter and so on. I signed it to her on the bottom of the tray, with a date, so grandchildren someday will see it (she just turned 18). I took a lot of pictures while I was building it, but these came out the best to show it off.

That's killer Chief. Makes me want to rethink making another hope chest. But I'm sure I couldn't top that.
