    3 strips of UHMW tape were added to the bottom to make it slide more smoothly.

    The main reason for the new version was to reduce the overall weight. This was done by making the base out of 1/2" Baltic Birch. The original never had a finish applied and had warped a bit, causing it to rock side to side. To stabilize the new sled the base was edged with 1/2" x 3/4" x 1/8" aluminum channel, a bridge piece was added over the front of the kerf cut, and 2 coats of precatylised laquer were applied. The runners were cut long and will be trimmed so they extend aprox. 2" from the front.

    NOw Im gonna have to track down a miter slot insert . That looks really sharp. ANother addition to my growing number of jigs and accessories to my saw that is going on my list.
