Well, I thought since I've gotten a lot of good advice and saved many a dollar by reading posts at this site, that I'd share the fruits of my labor over the last few months. Worthy of note is the fact that I used the new craftsman version BT3 with the mobile base. FWIW, its a great saw, and once its setup properly (don't trust the floor models!), its as solid if not more so than the sheetmetal HD BT3 base. Anyway, with the recent addition of a new baby girl to my family (Sophia), I decided to convert a 13x9' dirt floor, crawlspace area into a wood shop. I then built some nursery furniture: a crib using the plans available at Rockler, and a side table of my own design. Both are maple, and finished in Rockler's wundercote. I also built a pair of speaker cabinets (for me...why should Sophia get all the cool woodworking projects??) based on a Bob Brines design http://geocities.com/rbrines1/ using a Fostex FE167e driver and no xover (yet). The baffle, port covers and dovetails are all solid walnut, and the cabinet material is all mitered 3/4" baltic birch ply. Finish is stain (I forget the color) and gloss poly. FYI, baltic birch is tough wood to get a really nice finish on, though I was probably spoiled from working with the maple and walnut...So, I've really grown to enjoy woodworking over the last few months (and my daughter over the last few weeks), and thanks to all that make this forum worthwhile.
recent projects in the new shop.
