Doll Cradles for Mia and Abby

Well, spring is almost here so I can get back to my garage shop. We have two granddaughters that give me a target audience for my hobby. This is a Readers Digest plan which I modified a bit. The main changes that I made was to add a brace (not shown) between the rockers (after Linda and a friend told me how they broke their doll cradles by trying them out) and I also simplified the scrollwork so that it would be easier to sand.

    Simple, but fun project.

Looks really nice. They'll enjoy them. I understand about the "target audience", our grandson is living with us....

Beautiful piece. You've got a very lucky "target audience."

Nice job! Good foresight on the "trying it out" part as well. I would have done that myself had I owned a doll cradle. Heck, I'd probably be tempted now...

Nice work Pat. I'm sure they'll love them. Can't wait to be able to bulid things like that for my grandkids (when my kids finally get around to them).

Beautiful work, Warren! Nice touch with the name on the foot panel. Stenciled on?

Very nice! I've made doll cradles for two of my grandaughters and I'm just finishing up a full size cradle for the next granddaughter who is due any day now.

Teagan and Shanna both loved their cradles. All the dolls and the cats have taken "naps" in them!

Hey Pappy...I can only take credit for the design on the foot panel. I thought about engraving it myself, but decided to have it laser engraved.

I think most of my enjoyment comes from the design (or redesign in some cases) and general building. I don't get too caught up in the fine details anymore. Of course, it is nice to have that target audience.
