    Wall unit around fireplace

My neighbor came to me about a month ago with an idea that he had for some built-ins around his fireplace. He wanted a new mantle and book shelves with storage for his flat screen tv. We have been cutting and gluing for a few weeks now and installed this over the past two weekends. The finishing touches were put on yesterday afternoon. He now wants to do one for the family room in the basement. Pictures of it to follow when completed.

When you are replying to a post or posting for the first time if you scan down towards the bottom of the page there is a tab to manage attachments. Click on it and follow the instructions. After the files are uploaded go the paperclip and click attach files. Hope that helps and if there is an easier way maybe someone else will help us out.

        Thanks,

                  Pappy,
He bought all of the supplies, I cut and pieced all of it together, he and his wife stained it and I got 2 cases of beer for my troubles. Well worth it from an experience standpoint and to help out a friend. Our sons are best frineds and we have a very close knit neighborhood.

Very nice Grant! Did you put them over the carpet, or on the subfloor? LOML and I are think of some built-ins in one of our carpeted rooms.

Copper, We cut the carpet and went right to the subfloor. The bottom cabinet is sitting on a 2X4 frame that we attached to the floor and then stapled the carpet to the floor. The kick plate on the base was added to cover up the staples in the carpet.

Monte, the beer is always cold and there is normally plenty of it so if you or any of the brethren from BT3 are in my neck of the woods feel free to stop in and wet your whistle.
