    Twin Bookcases

This is my first project completed on a non-BT TS. I made these for my daughter's room. I hope to build a bed to go between these cases:

    Some firsts on this project:
    - no BT
    - used brass sleves for the shelf pins
    - first big project to use my HF HVLP gun

Very nice work! I like the design. How was your experience with the HF HVLP? And what fisish did you use with it?

Good work, Mike. The shelf pin sleeves caught my eye when I saw the second picture. How did you like them? Are they glued in place of press fit?

WOW!!! Those are just beauiful and I'm not just being nice. An outstanding job!!! Yes, what and how did you finish them. Truely beauiful. Oh what in the heck is a HF HVLP? Oh, and yes those brass sleeves are certainly a nice little extra. I'll have to remember them.

Very nice work...I'm thinking of doing a couple of bookcases in the near future. The bed will certainly look nice between them. Were these from plans or from your head? I'm also interested in the finish techniques...
                          Keep up the good work

I used Minwax Polycrylic water based finish. It was suggested by someone at BT3 because it's non-combustable. I sprayed the cases, shelves, bases, and backs separately. it only took about 20 min. for each coat including time to move things around. I put on 4 coats.

In real life it doesn't have as good of a "sheen?" as wipe on poly but still is a nice finish. I think there may be higher quality waterbase finishes on the market.

                              The HF gun worked flawlessly.
