Great job! Where the heck did you get quilted maple for $2.50 a board foot?

Tundra, I posted earlier, I got it at "the long barn" which is in ebensburg, pa. They charge the same for soft maple and quilted maple, which was 2.50$ when I bought the quilted.

I plan on regularly buying them out of quilted maple. [8D]
I also rented time on their drum sander after the glue-up. Used it for about 15 minutes for 10$. They are a great little place in the middle of no-where.

Thanks everyone, for the kind words. I am proud of this one, even my brother likes it.

What does "strengthened in the middle to prevent sagging" entail?? I assume it's an oak strip front to back under the drawer bottom? ... not the very nice looking dowel pinning??

cobob, check out this topic, and you'll see pictures of the underside of the drawers.

The dowel pinning isn't just decorative, it's called a reenforced rabbet joint. It's a rabbet joint that is then doweled with hardwood to make the joint strong when perpendicular pressure is applied (ie, pulling on the front of the drawer). Those are black walnut dowel bits, which are pretty darned strong.

Beautiful work, Keith! I like the pinned rabbets on the drawers.
