How to mount feather loc above piece

    Hi Guys

Just bought Feartherloc pair and miter slot adapter. What do I need to mount to on the fence so that it holds the piece down?

    TIA

Thanks Mark. Scoured their site and didn't see anything. From the featherloc pics, it looks like I need something to secure the miter rails to the fence, but miter rails have no holes inside, or some sort of right angle bracket that I can attach using t-neut

If you are trying to use the feather boards in a hold down configuration which is what I assumed you were asking you would want to attach it to the ripfence. T-nuts would be my first choice. If you are wanting to attach it to the DMST there are attachments available from most wood working tool supply houses. I don't use miter slots so can't really help more in that regard however I have seen them in catalogs.

To attach items to the fences or to the BT3 rails, a "T-nut" is the easiest method. You have a couple on the saw right now: the rectangular bits that hold the rails to the body of the saw. Ryobi and others sell extras for attaching stuff to the rails, miter fence, and rip fence. They're threaded to accept readily available screws/bolts. See T-nuts kits The Ryobi jigsaw + router mounting kit includes a couple as does the basic Ryobi BT3 accessory kit. The actual Ryobi ones (accessory kits, router kit, and the ones that attach the rails to the saw body) are simple rectangular stamped metal pieces; the T-nut.com ones are a little beefier with more threads for the screws to bite into.

For attaching things to a miter slot, or the Ryobi dual miter slot, a typical method is an expanding bar. Take a look at a sample from Rockler: expanding miter slot bar
See the tapered screw hole in the center? That normally faces down, into the slot. A screw runs through that hole, up through your featherboard or other attachment, and into a twist knob. As you tighten the knob, the screw is pulled into the tapered hole and tries to push the sides of the bar apart... wedging it into your miter slot. You can make one from hardwood as well.
