    Stripped shims...

    Hey,

Last project went great except for the increasing issue of raising my blade.

Began taking saw apart and saw the stripped shims. But the case that covers the shims is being stubborn.

Have all the screws out except two. One I have partially stripped (screwdriver hole - not threads). This was possibly caused be pressures I exerted to try to raise blade.

Never dealt with an issue like this.

How can I get screws out? Any help?

    Thanks!

    Had the same challenge.

    Here's how I handled it:

Got it out just by drilling a little bit to givr the philips something new to bite on.

      Both came right out.

2 of the 4 shims were damaged. One was torn. Probably the issue.

I will look up the articles on where to order and replace them - then back in business!

an idea I got from the woodenboat forums for stubborn screws:

use a brace (antique hand drill tool) with a phillips bit. Works amazing for stubborn screws without stripping them, I actually just used it on my BT3100 for some of those stubborn screws in there.
