What size dado can fit in the BT3K?

I have the Avenger 8" set, bought about a week before they went out of business. While it does fit, there is VERY little clearance between the blade and the [whatever the heck you call the part the arbor rides up and down on]. In fact, I have a little light scoring in the aluminum where it looks like the dado set nicked the casting.

Loring may plotz when I say this, but I have gotten a full 3/4" width by removing both spacers and leaving off the blade washer on the nut side.

If I had it to do over again, I would get the 6" set.
