Now it is working perfectly.
I have concluded that this was an assembly error on Ryobi's part.
The slide on the left was the worst although the other one also had the problem. The screw was tightened so hard that the washer imbedded itself into the plastic. There was no way to make a small adjustment either way because it would just slide back where the washer was before.
New slides and just snugged them up and all is well.
I don't think it ever worked this good and originally it just kicked the fence to the right. I never did like the cuts made but learned to accept it. Now I see that I should have looked into this a long time ago.
