    New Here need help

    Hello everyone ...
    It apears there are a lot of knowledgable people on this site, so I just joined today.

    I fried the motor in my BT3000... I believe the smoke indicated that ....
    It still turns slowly and humms.
    This saw has served me well for many years.
    I have used it for a portable finish saw on construction sites and just really like it.
    It is rough looking but works ( worked ) great for my needs.

    Anyway, I am in need of a motor.
    I believe it is a 13 amp instead of a 15 ... I have no problem converting to 15 if it will mount the same.
    Is there an after market motor I can use for replacement that is reasonably priced?
    The motor assembly is $225 from ryobi .. OUCH !!! .... I don't believe I could get 1/2 that much for the saw if I tried to sell it when it worked.

    Can anyone head me in the right direction?

      The 15-amp motor does mount the same. You do not want another 13-amp. Look for someone parting out a newer saw, or you can often find motors on Ebay. Investigate also the possibility that it is just the brushes that have burned out in your motor (although I'd still move up to a 15-amp now if a chance to do so comes along).

          Not the brushes.

          I got everything apart and checked and cleaned the brushes.
          Obviously this is not the problem.
          There was some pieces of what looked like epoxy that fell out of the windings.
          It is a 15 amp motor.
          I guess I am in need of a motor if anyone knows of a deal some place.

              Have you considered calling a local auto electrical shop and see if they can rebuild it?

                  Morton, the part number for the 15-amp motor is 969214010. List price is $225. There is a seller on Ebay right now that has a new one for $144, which is a pretty good discount. There is another new one for $167. Problem with buying one used or parted out is that you may be buying somebody else's problem, but it could be a cheaper alternative if you don't mind a little risk. Ebay has one on there now that drops in 2+ days, and sits at 21 bucks at the moment. Or, you could bide your time and watch for somebody here that's parting one out, or keep an eye on Craigslist for somebody selling their saw, which can often be had in the $100 range. As always, caveat emptor...

                      I am selling this barely used table saw. below is a description of it.

                      Ryobi's BT3100, the newest version of the company's tried-and-true BT3000, is a good saw made better. Although classified as a benchtop machine, it has outsized capability. With the blade at 90° to the table, the saw will rip lumber up to 3-1/2 in. thick. Its power is supplied by a 15-amp dual-belt motor, and an improved motor mount cuts vibration. In turn, this extends motor life and should make the new saw a bit more pleasant to work with. To increase the wear resistance of the table, its surface received a powder-coat finish. Like its predecessor, the new saw uses a sliding table to the left of the blade. Ripping width is generous for a small saw: 30 in. to the left of the blade and 31 in. to the right. An improved blade guard design makes the guard easier to install and remove.

                      Finally, the saw remains inexpensive. It costs $300 at The Home Depot, and that includes the steel work stand. That fact alone makes the saw one of the better hobbyist and portable contractor saws around.

                              Keeping on Looking

                              I am from South East South Dakota.
                              I appreciate all the inputs and really appreciate the help.
                              I have been contacted by someone on a used saw that may work out.
                              I know there is risk in looking at used but that is the only option for me at this time.
