Will BT3100 motor from Sears fit Craftsman 21829?

Hi, all. New poster here, though I've lurked for a couple of years and learned a lot of stuff about this great saw.

Did something dumb and burned up the motor in my Craftsman 21829. Bit the bullet and ordered a new one through Sears, part #A18201010 for 233.95. Then got to wondering if they carried BT3100 parts, found they do, and its motor is listed as part #969214-101 for 180.99.

Have read that the saws are essentially identical, at least on the exterior, so does anyone know if I can order the cheaper part number and get the same motor?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Mike - AFAIK, yes, the motors are interchangeable...be sure to get the more modern 15 amp version and not the 13 amp. Good used motors often go up for sale here for < $100. Hopefully someone else who's certain will chime in, but if so, I'd return the one from Sears.

The 13-amp motors are from early BT3000's. All OEM motors from BT3100's will be 15-amp.

        Thanks

Thanks for the info, pretty much what I thought. But they're different part numbers from Sears and the BT3100 motor is $50+ cheaper than the 21829. So does anyone know for certain if I order their BT3100 motor would it fit my Craftsman? Thanks.
