    Changing belts

Hi I just wanted to say that I just changed the belts on my 3000 that I`ve had for over 10 yrs I followed the directions by Jim Frye and also used Ed Ellicksons post,I`m a mechanic and I also took the dust shield off the motor side.I found getting the bearing assy loose the hardest part of the job,I put the belts on with my fingers, starting the belt in the small shaft about 1/8 in and thencatching the belt on the large pully and working them both onapinning assy by hand.I think the job was a piece of cake took about 3 mins total to get the belts on,I can`t say how usefull the information available on this site was to me,I am very thankfull to have found you on the search for information on replacement.Thank you all and I hope I can be a helpful and contribuiting member of this site .

Stick around and lend some of us a hand. 3 minutes - you are good! You want to hire out? I know a few people that will give you a recommendation to work at an authorized Ryobi repair center.

Welcome to the best and friendliest woodworking site in the known universe (with the exception of some weird planet in the gamma region as they have a pretty good site ).

Its great to still be attracting new members and owners of BTs they have had for years but didnt know we existed.

Do let us know what you like to do with your BT. Construction, fine furniture, home projects?

          Thanks Guys

I feel I will enjoy this site,I havent used my BT for a few years got a Harley and the saw sat in the garage.I`m about to start fixing some things around the house,I used to make dart box`s and attempted some furnishings. When I put the belts on I swung the motor around twords the tilting and raising mechenism and had great access, I may have had dumb luck, I hope I don`t have to do it again for atlest 10 years.Thank you again for the warm welcome

I'd be intrested in seeing some of the boxes. A lot of my projects are dart related. Cases, backboards, scoreboards, trophies etc..
