    Wide rail hinges

Has anyone had experience using the wide rail hinges sold by T-nuts? The website doesn't show too much and it seems as though there is only one screw per hinge side which seems a bit on the light side. The hinge itself looks quite solid and well made. At $22 per pair they are quite inexpensive if they are accurate and sturdy enough.

    Thanks, Skip

I had used them for a couple of years thinking I would want to raise and lower the table extensions. IMO they suffer from the lack of rigidity needed to hold the extensions in alignment with the main table top. It is the nature of hinges to move -- thus creating a problem if you want the extension to remain closely aligned with the main table.

It turns out that I did not lower the extension as I thought I would and replaced the hinges with solid steel plates.

That being said, the hinges themselves were well made and did what they were supposed to do. If you will be raising and lowering the extension, they are very workable and I would recommend them, especially if you build a good set of legs to support the end of the extension. It may be less expensive to make your own devices, but the ones from T-Nuts seem to be made specifically for the BT3X00 rails.

    Regards, Steve

Steve, thanks for the input. Due to space requirements, I do know that I would leave teh extensions in the down position most of the time. These hinges will get my half length extesnoions off the shelf where they ave been resting for the past 2 yrs!

      Thanks, Skip
