FWIW, MirrorGlaze is a professional brand of Meguiar's car products. Some of the Pep Boys stores carry the #39 cleaner. Unfortunately, there isn't a vinyl cleaner-only in the regular Meguiar's consumer line, but there is a #39 cleaner in Meguiar's Boat and RV line along with a couple things for aluminum. And even tho it's called a vinyl cleaner, I use it pretty much on any non-painted plastic. For clear plastic like the little gauge pieces, MirrorGlaze does make some plastic cleaners and polishes. Not sure if they're paint shop safe, also would need to be careful about taking off any painted lines on the plastic.
Refurbishing tips, anyone?

I found a new tool that is helping with several related projects. I bought a Wagner PaintEater for peanuts at a swap meet. It operates sort of like a RotoZip, it's upright, with an abrasive on the business end, you hold it around the body of the tool.
I experimented with using it to derust some wrenches and it left a nice surface behind, smooth without grinding too much, even on very rusty parts. Some metal tool stands with rusty feet were cleaned up very quickly using it.Comment

Nice grab if it was cheap - Lowes wants $79 for these guys. Probably get the same effect by mounting a scrubby pad on an angle grinder, altho the PaintEater is only 2600 RPM, so you'd need a variable speed angle grinder. Somewhere around here I've got the Craftsman version of the B&D Scumbuster but I think that rotates much slower.Comment

I just refinished my base stand for my bt3k it had glue and rust all over it from the prior owner, removed the glue and gave it a good bead blast and a new paint job with some rustoleum stainless steel color paint witch was the closest color that I could find to the original.

When I pimp'd my bt3 I used 600 wet/dry with a 1/4 sheet sander and then cleaned it up and polished it with mothers aluminium polish. Finished it off with a coat of briwax and I've never had any problems.Comment

These are all the pics I have...Roloff, If you are concerned the SMT fence ends the best thing you can do with those IMHO is toss them. If you feel you must have ends PM Rod Kirby and ask if he can email you pics of the ones he made when he had a BT3K...
