Thanks for the update on the BT3K

I've had my BT3000 since 2000 which I purchased at International Tool
for about $500 & another $500 for air shipping. At first the Switch died.
I'm wondering now if that had anything to do with 100V.
Easy fix. I added a few extra plugs for the router, and whatever else I
might need. Recently the height adjustment has been getting harder and harder to raise...so I open it up & the motorhousing nut is stripped
So I check the forums here, and everyone is talking about a helicoil.
But no 9/16 Got a 12mm, and made a new shaft.
Now I'm thinking what happens when the motor dies?
Does Ryobi Japan sell BT3K parts?

    100 VOLT STORY:

The 100V had nothing to do with the switch problem IMHO. The Switch problems have been there off and on almost for the life of the saw's production. Even when they "upgraded" it, on the 3000 and even on the first 3100, Ryobi had to do replacements.

AS to 100V and 200V, We brought a lot of US 120V and 220V appliances when we came to Japan 23 years ago. Refrigerator with ice maker, 220V AC (before they were common here) microwave, electric ranges, bandsaw, routers, and now my lathe. Many people warned us that the decrease in voltage will ruin or shorten the life span of these appliances. If anything, it has INcreased their life span. Don't buy into the argument that 100V as the problem. The ONLY people who said the appliances and machines would work fine here were a network of about 200 people in our organization who had been living here since the '50s and '60s and had experienced the situations. These folks were right.

    AS TO PARTS:

You have found a great network on this forum. About every 2 to 3 months, someone here parts out their saws - i.e. sells them in parts as they can get more for the individual parts than the whole of the saw. And the prices are not outrageous either. Keep posting, post some picts of your work and get to know the fellows (and a few ladies) here. Some people will ship overseas.

I have an older first run 12 amp BT3000 motor on hand if you need it. I found an old BT3000 outside in the weather at a shop in Itami (north Osaka) about 5 years ago and the owner gave it to me for some work that I did for him. It was beaten up pretty bad and every screw was stuck. It did not have the sliding miter table or the fence, just the saw with housing and rails, which had saw marks on it. I cleaned it up just a little and got the rails off after soaking in penetrating oil for a few months. The motor works fine.

I will be going home for retirement in about two years and had planned on taking it back with me, but if you want the parts, or saw as it is, we can work something out easily. It is not the "15 amp" motor and I don't know how long it will work, but it does work now. I have not used it except to turn it on about once a year for a minute or two to check it out.

      Thanks Hank,

Its good to know about the 100 Volt story as well as the Parts info.
Having an extra motor on hand would be great!
Please let me know how you'd like to work this out.
