    Elevating/Tilt Wheel Handle

Has anyone ever had trouble with the Elevating/Tilt wheel handle grip becoming loose? The round plastic handle grip is mounted on a metal shaft that is held to the actual adjusting wheel with a set screw. The plastic handle is held onto the shaft with two 'lock ring' washers.

I think the insides of the round plastic handle have become worn after years of use. My latest 'fix' was to slightly deform the lock rings so that they would bite into the plastic handle a bit tighter. Not sure how long this fix will last, but so far the handle hasn't fallen off or gotten too loose yet. Besides replacing the handle grip, is there another way of tackling this problem?

    Hi Nick

I have a BT3100 handwheel that you can have if it will fit. I parted out my saw last year and still have some odds and ends.

I've got a couple of them laying around too, so just PM me if you or anyone else needs one.

If at first you don't succeed, deny you were trying in the first place.

Mine does the same thing... the hollow handle part just separates from the stupid washers. I too have un-bent the washers to try to make them grip better. Held for about a year. Mine seem to "flop" on the metal shaft that's supposed to hold them - basically ending up at an angle inside the handle part. They loose their grip and the handle comes off.

I recall reading a post a while ago where somebody filled the handle part with a dowel to make a permanent fix. Perhaps fitting a dowel spacer between the washers would reinforce things enough. One more thing on my to-do list.

          Height/Tilt Wheel Thread

This isn't about the handle per se, but still in the same theme. Lately my BT3000 tilt function seems to want to slip back from 90deg. when I start to move the locking handle to secure the angle of the blade. About the only way I can secure the blade is to reach up and hold the blade at 90deg. then move the locking handle to lock the blade. Anyone have the same problem, or barring that, can anyone give me a fix suggestion. Not a critical problem right now but just kind of a pain in the a--!

take handle off . replace with a pice of pvc pipe with a carraige bolt thru the center. The handle will feel comfortable and the pvc pipe allows the handle to spin in your hand as you turn it. A fast and pernament fix. Worked for ne for the past seven years.

Mine did that until I thoroughly cleaned the mechanisms in that area. Some of the saw dust was very impacted and required a wire brush to get it loose. Then use some dry lubricant on everything.
