    Used Saw Value Check

Just wanted a gut check. The BT3000 has to move out of my garage in the next couple of weeks (the Jet is in my shop-- thanks, Jeffrey!) and there is a guy at work that is interested in buying it. I need to give him a better-than-fair price. Does this sound OK?

    BT3000, ca. 1996, 13A, upgraded (rocker) switch
    original blade, clean and sharp
2 dual-slot miter tables, Komatoast brackets
    extra accessory table
    wide rail kit
    wide leg kit
    outfeed table on rear rail
    2 long rip/miter fences
    router/jig saw kit
    miter hold-down clamp
    spare belts
    spare shims
spare table slides and eccentric screws
    2 spare plastic fence ends
    spare blade washers (don't ask...)
    all literature

Recently serviced (R&R, clean and lube shims; clean and lube everything else; adjust blade elevation, miter slots, miter table, and rip fence with dial indicator). Parallelism is around .001 from front to back of blade for everything, but blade runout is .007. Cuts are clean and square.

Miter table has a little wear on the ridges that lock the fence (underneath), repaired w/ JB Weld, fence locks fine.

$250, he picks it up (but I help him set it up)

Is this fair? I think I could part it out for more than that.

The deal seems fair to me. If he wants all the add-ons.

Sounds very fair to me. Knowing how much I enjoy mine and knowing I can't buy a new one, I would pay that if a truck fell on mine or something.

Good point. The second long fence is a bit over the top (but it seemed like a good deal at the time).

        Ouch!

I'll make sure to clue him in to this site, too.

Have him get hold of Loring for the latest FAQ, or get a copy and give to him if he doesn't join. Not only would he benefit from it, but it will save you a lot of time answering his basic questions.

Considering all those options, that's a fair price, indeed. Your friend should be happy with the deal, given the choices in the $250 range.
