    Box Joint Blade Recommendation

Recently built a large version of Lynn Sabin Box Joint Jig from Leeway Workshop web site. Having trouble finding a Flat Top Grind 10" saw blade. Has anyone built this jig, and if so what blade are you using? Don't require a Dado blade, just a FTG regular blade. Any suggestions?

Many 24T rip blades have flat top grinds. Dewalt DW7124, Infinity, CMT, Freud LM72, Amana, Leitz/Irwin.... I just learned today that Freud LU87 has recently changed from an ATB to an FTG.

Thanks, I'll look for one of those brands.

I made that jig some time ago, but I use it with a dado stack. I was amazed how well the jig worked -- my "practice run" ended up being the real thing.

When shopping for blades, look for the term "raker" tooth, in conjuntion with ATB blades. That's the tooth that'll square off the bottom.

        Regards,
        Tom

a blade with a combination grind might help with tear out. it will be an ATB grind with some teeth with a flat grind. a TCG like a "glue line rip" blade might also work well.

Ridge Carbide TS2000 (available from Holbren) is a 40T blade where every 5th tooth is a flat 'raker'. I love this blade. It relegated a Forrest WW2 to a 'backup blade' status.

Oh, and Freud SD206 produces dead-flat bottomed dadoes as well.
