Thinking of producing a batch of ZCTP???

By day, I'm in the plastic fabrication business, and I made a few ZCTP for my personal use which really worked out nice. They fit even with the rest of the table surface unlike the supplied insert. The 3mm material that they are made of is soft enough to not cause any concern when you bring your blade up through them, yet firm enough to provide good support!
I'd like to find out if there is enough interest in them and what you'd be consider a fair price for them? If there is enough interest I'd be willing to get a batch (100 or so ) fabricated. I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

Don't want to bust your bubble.........

You might want to take a "walk" around 'T-Nuts.com" before you go into production.

Several different ZCTP versions are offered for sale there.

I checked out T-nuts...didn't see any ZCTP there...have seen some on
E-bay ...altough they are pretty pricy there considering what it takes (material/labor) to make them.

I'm intersted, could use 4 or 5. Been making out of hardboard but would buy premade if priced right say around the $5.00 mark each in plastic. Question would these just be a flat piece of plastic moulded to the shape of opening with the 3 screw holes moulded in or more complex with moulded in catchs for the back like the factory metal one.

            ZCTP Specifications

I made mine fit my Craftsman clone #21829. The specs on these are: a uniform 3mm thickness thoughout, and they have 3 countersunk holes, one in front and two in the back of the plate as you stand in front of the saw! I don't have a BT3 for reference, so I ask, Is that the same way they are on the BT3000 & 3100?

I bought my ZCTP's over at T-Nuts.com, but checking over there it looks like they're not offered anymore. I'd order a couple from you. I think the link up top to Leeway workshop has some info on making ZCTP's.

Sounds like a good idea with the following points: about anything up to $10 each; have a underside that can take the "aftermarket" splitters offered by several catalog outfits. Problem with ones I got a long while ago is that the underside webbing won't let you install a splitter and I'am too laZy to make my own ZTCP. Keep us posted.

                    Still checking things out!

Not quite ready to offer them yet...I want to make sure they work well for at least the BT3100 & the 21829 . Although monday night after I installed the first one I had a small project where I needed to cut some narrow strips of about 2mm styrene and it was great having the ZCTP installed, some of my offcuts were only 1/8" wide but they stayed on top of the table!

The other ZCTP's that had been offered by T-Nuts were Polycarbonate material of .250 thickness...I'm not sure why that material was chosen...it's tough for sure, but maybe have been a bit of overkill for the job. I've used an expanded styrene material which is more forgiving and has enough strength in a 3mm thickness, since weight is not directed straight downward on it. Plus it is a lot easier to initially raise the blade up through it (caution is still required for that operation though). I'll continue to test for awhile to make sure they hold up well.

Count me in ... price would determine how many I'd buy ...

I'd also go for 4-5 if priced right

I'd be interested too. Depends on price. But while you're in the planning stage, how about figuring out where and what size holes in the zctp would help with dust collection. That is my biggest gripe with mine. The blade blows all the saw dust straight out the front of the guard.

I bought mine from sears and mine also blows the saw dust straight at me. Not sure it can be stopped. Even a hole in front of it wouldn'treally do much good unless you have a pretty sealed saw and are getting a lot of air movement through it.
