Using Dual Slot Miters on Left / Right Sides

New to using the BT3100 TS and have a few questions which I haven't found clear answers to when I search the threads. I recently aquired two Dual Slot Miter Table inserts for the BT3100, and trying to decide if I really need to keep the 2nd ....

    1) My experince in the past has been with TS with only one miter slot, other than a sled that would use both slots on the left side, what other uses would one have to use both at the same time?

    2) I've seen a lot of talk and reference to using a second dual slot on the right side, again other than a sled, what advantage does it provide on the right side (other than filling the void in the table and making the surface larger)?

    3) With the way the router table is designed on the BT3100, it seems to me logical that if mounting a dual slot miter on the right side, it should be on the outside (as in the far side of the router insert) in order to allow it to be used with the router ... but then would likely be almost useless for anything else.

    4) Does anyone have some pictures that show uses for the dual slot on the right side (other than a sled)?

I did a search on the forum, but a lot of the threads came up with pictures missing ...

    Thanks,

I think you got it right as far as I know anyway. The only reason I can see is for using a sled. I'd sell the second one if it was me.

I am using dual-slot table on the right but I also have router mounted in a way that I get to use the slot for both router and saw. Below is a link:

I have a slot on the right inside the router table. Only use is for more table real estate. I don't use the router table - have a stand alone table. I put the second slot on the left but later removed it in favor of the SMT.

            Dual Slot Miter Table

Decided to upgrade my BT3000 by adding a miter table addition. However, here is the problem..where can I buy one of these things? Went to the RYBOI site with part number and description-no info. Went to the Canadian site (can't pronounce the name) on E-Bay but it does not show the table itself and no mention of it. Got the attachment kit but am against a brick wall. HELP PLEASE!

Craftsman had one for the 22811 (I think ) that fit. I notice its not on the web site, but you might check your local stores.

Craftsman closed them out last year. I had to laugh, because I picked up two at $6.00 a piece on the closeout table (several months after dropping off the website), and walked over the the NEW 21829 and made sure it had the holes. Seemed wierd to drop it when coming out with a new model.
Gave them to a friend of mine with the older style Craftsman, BT3000. He was ecstatic.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

                  Ryobi BT3100 Miter Slots

I just purchased an additional miter slot on ebay. James Cherry III has a ryobi-only parts & accessories store there. The link is http://stores.ebay.com/JUST-RYOBI-PARTS I paid $52.99 plus $13.99 on the "Buy It Now" option. There was one for aution (3 days left) with current bid @ $36.99 plus $14.99 shipping. He also had the folding extension table...tempting. FYI www.homedepot.com still stocks the complete accessory kits for $99.00.

Forget Ebay if your looking for these .... I ordered mine thru DIXIE SALES (www.dixiesales.com) and paid $42 USD each INCLUDING shipping & taxes ... they originally quoted $52 USD, but ask for a better price and they drop it without a hassle!

I went to Dixie Sales and browsed around. It seems that a customer ID# is required to get to anything of significance. Are they a wholesaler and/or sell direct to consumers? Did you have to call to open an account? I'm always interested in new scources for parts & tools, especially since HD seems to be run by schizophrenics and manned (with some exceptions) bypeople who don't even know their own inventories. Thanks for any help offered.

Should have mentioned to get the Phone number off the website and call ... and don't accept the first price they quote you, as if you give them a competitors price or seen it somewhere else for less, they'll beat it ...
