    Couple rail questions

I got an extra set of rails to build my folding wide table. Couple quick questions if anyone has a moment:

1- The rails I got are kinda scratched up. Anyone know the best brand/color of paint for touch-up (black rails) to match the original without completely repainting?

2- What's the best way to remove the Ryobi measuring tape sticker? I plan to get the stick-on 6' tape and make it accurate starting from the end of the scale on the original rail. Can I just peel it off and goof-off any residue?

3- Using Jeff's folding hinges, what length do the rails need to be cut to to fold? Sure, I can measure and will but just looking for a starting point.

    thanks for your time!

I found heating the tape with a heat gun as I pealed it helped, but mine was a 12 yr. old saw and left a miserable residue. The only chemical I found to disolve it was acetone and a lot of elbow grease.

I just put the new scale over the old one. Sometimes glue residue comes off for me with mineral Spirits.

For the paint, try Krylon Semi-Flat Black. After it dries, buff it awith a soft cloth.

Goo-Gone should do a good job on the adhesive... It did for mine. It's citrus-based, so it won't harm the paint.

I may be wrong, since I don't have Black Rails, But I think they're Anodized, not painted. Mine are Silver on a BT3000SX

You may be able to find some kind of Touch-up stuff at an Industrial Supply house or at McMaster-Carr.

One of the other guys can probably confirm/deny the anodized thing, I'm just not sure.

George is correct, the rails are anodized, not painted.

Yep, anodized..... looks like the way to go with something like this:

                  http://www.airgunexpress.com/Accesso...04-03-5102.htm

Made for guns but should work fine. Scratches are not bad, just annoying.

That may be the best option. Thanks!

                      1. I'll second the reommendation of Krylon Enamel.
                      3. Jeff normally recommends cuttig them in half, but it all depends on the height of your saw how much they can hang down.
