    Herculift..to BT3100

I searched for pertinent info on this topic but didnt find suffricient details.
Can someone give me some specifics or a thread previously posted on how they adapted the Ridgid herculift (plus) to the 3100?
HD had a bunch of these lifts for 29 dollars.....

    Anthony,

I just bought two at HD for $29 and will be assembling them onto my BT3100 and Hitachi BS. I'll start off with these instruction from the following thread.

    http://www.bt3central.com/showpost.p...86&postcount=6

I hope this helps. I'll let you know how it goes with mine.

Installed Herc-u-lift Plus yesterday. Took 2 hours including adjustments. Used the 28 x 28 instructions. Drilled hole in top rear stand bracket for the spring, no chain links. Only confusing area was the front extender tubes. Chart indicated not to use, but I did and all is well. Easier to install than I expected. I just love it! $29 was a bargain deal for this enhancement.

Throughout my racing career I was constantly reminded of this: "Keep the pointy end forward and the shiny side up!"

Ditto to the above -- except I didn't use the front extender tubes (as per the instructions) and things lined up perfectly.

Can you post some pictures? Still haven't put mine totally together. My 3 year old had a lot of my attention today.

          Thanks

I just finished putting my Herc-u-lift AND BT3100 together. It probably took me a couple of hours just to do the Herc-u-lift assembly / adjustment. I did not use the front extenders. I could see how you would use them and it not matter. My only question - for those who have done this already - are the bolts that hold the assembly to the legs of the stand really supposed to remain THAT loose? The instructions say "nuts flush with the bottom of bolts". I can see the need for some play, but that seems really loose!

I can post some pictures of mine tomorrow if wanted.

I just purchased the Herc-U-Lift from the BORG.

Could someone please post some pictures of a finished Herc-U-lift install on the BT3100.

Any posted pictures would greatly help with my install.

I'll try to shoot/post a few tomorrow. Seriously, though, the instructions are all you need, along with the following info:

                1) Use the 28x28 configuration from the "universal leg stand". Fit perfectly for me.
                2) For the spring, I didn't use the chain at all. I used 2 s-hooks at the top, and one at the other end of the spring, hooked between the caster bar and a hole I drilled in the rear-center at the top of the stand (it was actually in the saw proper, but in the lower flange where it's not seen).

Other than that, it was just following the directions meticulously...

                Good luck!

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing. But in reality, when the casters are down, I think gravity holds everything together, so it doesn't really matter...

I think the idea of the bolts being loose is to allow the bar to pivot up and down without binding. I got the back ones wrong and the bar is above the bracket. Now when the lift is enguaged it is using the bolt alone to lift the leg. It should be that the bar lifts on the bracket and the bolt just keeps it in the correct position.
I did not used the front extenders and extended the rear extenders to position 'D' to bring the foot plate out further.
Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?

Available in (South) Bay Area HDs for $29...

With a set of 4 lockable casters supporting a total of ~300lbs going for ~32$, this Herc-u-lift thingamajig is definitely worth it... 'am planning on adding them to my workbench too (probably need to split my workech design into two mini 3 footers) so can move them in my small garage.

I imagine you would spend most of that $29 just trying to buy the casters.

Once in a while a really good idea and good buy comes along...this is one of them.

I bought a Herc U Lift for the BT3100 and saw that installation would be more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. I bought one of these....

That was too easy...works great...Yes, it's stable while ripping.
