    BT3Kit (accessory Kit)

I am trying to get my hands on one of the accessory kits. Being in Canada this is harder then you might think. I can't order one from HD.ca as they do not offer the item, and HD.com do not ship to Canada, ordering direct from Ryobi the kit costs over $255 compared to the $115 from HD. Does anyone know where I can order one for the $100 US dollars and get it shipped to Canada. I have tried going to the states, but it seems none of the HD's I checked out had them in stock, or in many cases knew what I was talking about.

    thanks, Mike

If you really want it I would look on ebay. The popular opion around here is that the kit isn't worth a 100 bucks for the stuff thats in it.
Awww forget trying to fix it!!!! Lets just drink beer

Can you special order it at a US HD and then come get it?

Try posting a WTB in the Member Classifieds forum, maybe someone here would be willing to buy one and ship it to you.

If you don't want all of the accessories, you might be better off buying just the pieces you want. The Craftsman version of the router mounting kit is on closeout right now. It might be worth checking any nearby Sears stores to see if they still have any of the accessories.

What Stinker said - what is it you want from the kit? Most of us have found it not worth the bucks. If there's only pieces of it you think you want, you may be able to pick them up individually. There are better ways to make the BT mobile than the casters in the kit; the dust bag is no biggie; the router attachments are more bother than useful (IMHO); and so forth.

Mount a DeWalt router to BT3K?

Hey Ken, I've got a very nice DeWalt router. Is there any real trick to mounting it on the BT3K? Any special mounting plates, screws, etc. need and do you know a source?

The router table is set up for Ryobi routers but others can be adapted. I had a Ryobi router so it went in fine - I just didn't like the setup and opted for a separate table. The accessory kit has a fence system and a latching mechanism under the table that fits on the rear rail that ties down the table. The Ryobi router I used didn't need a special plate (if I remember right), the bottom plate fit the table. Maybe one of the guys who used different routers on the accessory table can give you a better idea of how to adapt a different brand. Email me your email address and I'll see if I can find the mounting instructions and I'll scan them and send them to you.

If you really want one, I've got a brand new unopened one in Saskatchewan. Make me the right offer and it's yours.

I'm using less of the accessory kit than I used to, but I still think there are some worthwhile pieces, namely the miter slot table (if nothing else, it gives you a bigger work surface), the SMT hold-down clamp, and the router table kit, and the dado throat plate. I no longer use my dust bag or the casters, but do use one of the ZCTP's (I messed the other one up when cutting it initially).

You'll typically get gouged on eBay, unfortunately...

The router mounting plate is useful if you want to mount any router to the Acc. table but you could also make one of your own; see the articles section for a plan.

The miter clamp kit seemed useful until I actually purchased one: used it about three times....

Dust bag = next to worthless unles that is all you have and even then if you are cutting lots of pine and your bag gets full there can be problems with all the pine resins sticking to everything. (Without the bag IMHO your saw would breathe more freely possibly blowing oout the resins.)

The Acc. table clamp is a needed item if you ever want to use the router funtion but one could be made without much work.

All of the t-nuts are nice but the ones sold by forum member Jeff are way better for less money.
