    Assy Table & Rail Problem

I'm mostly just venting here but, I really think this is messed up. I posted the following on my Ryobi ebox service request. If anyone has any suggestions that don't involve returning my saw I'm listening.

I bought my BT3100 Jan. 19th and did the set-up and alignments IAW the manual. I later noticed that my Assy table was (as posted by others at BT3Central and on the Ryobi Tool forum) about 1/16" lower than the saw table. What's more the assy table lugs are so sharp on the edges that the rails are now nicked and gouged from moving the assy table. I tried to smoothe the edges but they still catch on the rails. And, yes the assy table and the rails are properly installed.

Yesterday afternoon I spoke with three different tech reps at Ryobi only to get bounced to a supervisor's voicemail to try to get approval to send me a new table and rails. So far your "fix" is to take the whole saw back to Home Depot.

HD will not open a box for me and let me take the rails and table out and I really don't blame them for that. The last time I looked the saw said Ryobi on the front and not Home Depot. It should be Ryobi's responsibility to fix the problem rather than mine (or HD's) to return my saw and set up a new one. As far as I'm concerned, if I have to break down my saw and haul it back to HD I'll be making sawdust with someone else's product next week. I shouldn't have to resort to threats (to buy somewhere else) or demands to get a simple thing like this resolved.

The killer is that I really like the saw! Over all I'ld give the BT3100 at least a B+ grade. Sadly though, the Custumer Supt. is getting an F.

Sorry to hear that you are being jerked around. IMHO If I was you I would but another BT from HD and remove the part you need and insert the bad part. I would then take back the box to HD. I know its Ryobi fault but HD is making money on the sale.
    Thanks again,
    Mike

      Good News/Bad News

The Good News is that I'm still making sawdust with a Ryobi made saw (or is that the bad news? I get confused).

The bad news is that I got totally frustrated and disgusted with Ryobi and after waiting all day for word from them a supervisor called while I was returning the BT.

I took my money and bought a used Craftsman TS (made in 98 by Ryobi) and set it up on the mobile base I had just built for the BT.

After cleaning it up and doing the alignments I have a good solid saw with a cast iron top with everything lined up properly that cuts true every time. The extra weight is actually a good thing as the base would slide on the locked castors with the BT. Now it holds still for me.

It's unfortunate that I felt I had to go this route but as I told Ryobi, "If you won't stand behind your product, I won't stand in front of it." IMO, this all should have been taken care of (by Ryobi) with ONE phone call.

In the end I'm happily making sawdust again and I think that's the most important thing.
