I would recommend finding a 10" saw if you want a RAS. There is a better selection for blades. If the model is a popular one...parts will be available.

This looks like my RAS. An 8 inch blade works well with it. Getting a negative hook blade is highly recommended. The recall concerns the possibility of a cracked motor housing - something to look for. Mine is fine so I plan to keep it. I use my CMS for crosscuts within it's ~8 inch capacity and the RAS for crosscuts upto it's ~12 inch capacity. Now that I have a track saw, it will probably be my go-to for wider crosscuts. The Ryobi RAS also has a high speed spindle on the other end of the blade you can use 1/4 inch shank router bits in. I have never found anything I wanted to do that way - the collet is not great and there is enough deflection of the arm/motor that accuracy is deflected - but it is an unusual feature.

A 10 inch craftsman or similar is probably a better idea for a RAS but I find my Ryobi useful. Another thing I do with it is the make rough cuts for tenons on long boards. I put in a few dado cutters and it will get me within shoulder plane trimming of the finished tenon.
