Just a FWIW it will always show a higher price online than in stores , clearanced items hardly ever make the online adds

Good point, I had thought that if it was clearance priced at your local store, it would show up online if you have your local store set.

I thought that too. If it's not the case then it should be.

Online sales at HD like most stores have different pricing than individual stores as pricing is directly related to inventory and clearance pricing of items no longer planning to be stocked or replaced with newer items.Been this way for yrs, thats why I believe I had stated before its best to call only with the intent to purchase the item while on the phone,to see if its in stock and the pricing. If they have it and its clearanced they'll give you the current price to show whether that stores inventory has reached clearance levels yet, also HD does clearancing by districts. A store may clearance out an item, i.e. , Ridgid Planers before other stores as they have received the newer model into inventory quicker than another,so the website will still keep the higher pricing till inventory is completely gone then it will be replaced with the newer model.

All that may be true but the technology is available to show local pricing. Walmart for example has the technology in place on their website as they often ask for a zip code location before showing the sell price of certain items.

Of course its been available, but how many folks just go online to make a purchase without even bothering to see if its a lesser price somewhere else, Lots, thats why so many companys don't bother with the technology as it leads to bigger profits. Also many companies do not have up to date info available on inventorys till later in the day to accurately reflect stock,an individual might return an item on the same day or later and it will go back into inventory, its a basis for inventory control they have used that model for yrs at HD as well as other companies that sell online to accurately reflect current inventory for purchasing as well inventory control and distribution to their many stores. Supply and demand are the bigger regulators of these types of issues since inventory shifts hourly as well as daily and they have to resupply their stores accurately enough to meet demands on a store to store basis. In this particular case my local store had none in stock, however I was able to get them thru their inventory system to find out which stores did have them in stock and called that particular store to check pricing as store pricing varies per district and the store I called was in another district only 10 minutes down the road. Lots of particulars dealing with both Lowes and HD as their districts have no rhyme or reason to them, a store closer to me is in another district entirely and pricing is entirely different thats why the online sales pricing is set for online only most of the time vs individual stores
