    Keter folding work table

Costco (at least here in the Dallas area) currently has this thing on sale for $40. HD shows it at $79 and Amazon at $70. This thing is amazing - sets up and knockds down in seconds, claims 1000 lb capacity and included 2 12" clamps. I've only had it a couple of days, but am really impressed with it so far.

SKU and you will want to edit your signature and eliminate it or change the @ symbol to at, to eliminate spambot harvesters.

This table is what it is. An inexpensive portable piece of plastic that will work for some but not for me. I would like to meet the genius who came up with this contraption and ask how many times did he fold and unfold this table before he thought he got it right. First of all, portability is not just about weight but how user friendly it is. You need to switch hands while hunched over and flip this table in different directions for the assembly and disassembly process which is a pain in the back. The clamps and the slots do not fit precisely and you will need to lubricate the plastic surfaces to avoid scraping off slivers of plastic every time you use them. No thanks, I will stick to my old beat-up Black & Decker Workmate for the time being until a better folding workbench comes along.

The two adjustable clamps that were suppopse to be included were not in the box. Sent the manufacturer an e-mail to see if they will send the to me. One of the locking devices that keeps the table folded in the close position was not installed. I managed to get it seated in place with a rubber mallet but it takes a little effort to get that side to lock in the folded configuration. Seems to be a fairly solid table otherwise. Would have rated higher if not for the poor factory quality control. (missing and loose parts)

Bought one at Costco. Clamps were defective. Contacted customer service for replacements. Basic answer was tough luck since they do not keep replacement parts. I was told they are made In Israel and shipped as a package. Really hard for me to believe the Israelis would ship something with such a defective parts. Told me to return it to Costco.

I bought one of these at Costco about an hour ago because the price was right (fifty USDollars). I returned it about 15 minutes ago for the following reasons:

        1. I've seen reports of these things breaking. One at Amazon & another at Home Depot. I ignored these reviews and bought the item figuring I'd just be careful with it.
        2. Once I got it home I could not open the table by following the simple instructions (squeeze the levers and handles and lift). I resorted to trying to simultaneously squeeze the locking levers while prying the locking handles with a screwdriver or whatever. I never was able to open the table, so back it went before I broke it.
        3. It's mostly plastic and parts are not available from Keter for this item. Repairs could be a challenge.
        4. I can't believe this thing will hold up to hard use over any length of time.

I would suggest as an alternative the old reliable Black & Decker WM225 Workmate 225 450-Pound Capacity Portable Work Bench. The Workmates are bullet proof, light and open and close easily even after decades of use. You can make a simple work table out of a Workmate by taking a piece of plywood or MDF, fastening a wooden cleat to its bottom and locking it into the Workmate. Another good option is the DEWALT DW7350 Planer Stand with Integrated Mobile Base. This is an excellent mobile base with locking wheels that should last for many years.

Had this work table for a little over a year although I've only used it 4-5 x for small projects. Design is great, easy set-up and take down, good work surface, etc. However, I was putting the table away and one of the legs must not have folded just right (they are out of sight during the folding process) and it snapped off. I was able to see that the leg is actually attached by only six small plastic tabs on the end of the leg cap. Actually quite poor construction, but more importantly, there is no support/parts options when something on this product breaks. Really a shame since I did like using this workbench, just don't think I'll be paying for another one considering how this one broke.

The reviews seem to tell it like it is. The B&D Workmate is a hard act to follow. I got one as a birthday gift in the 80's, and it still works great.

I picked up a Keter work table last Thursday (Valentine's day) at Northern Tools in Memphis. On Friday afternoon, went/came to visit daughter near Springfield MO and brought it with me to do some work on her house.

Nice table, opens and sets up fine, closes fairly easy. Larger top than a B&D WorkMate. Sturdy and steady for plastic - not quite as much as two 2x4 saw horses (if you know the experience) but more so than my old WM. Holds a good bit of weight / pressure without bounce and flexing. Set up did involve me deliberately pressing the vertical support board into locking position, and needing to press the same support from the other side to get it to collapse. Not a lot of pressure needed, but it wasn't automatic. It will probably snap into place and release easily with a bit of use.

What I like: The table area is much larger than a WorkMate; Seems a bit more stable and little less "bouncy" than the WM when nailing a board. I haven't used the clamps yet! It is easier to pack in a car than the WM due to the collapsed design. Storage is likewise.
