I like to know too. I'm considering one.
OTOH, I would've swore I saw something where someone made a jig like this out of wood for sharpening these blades. Very similar to how these work. -

OTOH, I would've swore I saw something where someone made a jig like this out of wood for sharpening these blades. Very similar to how these work.
1) Sharpen the first two blades (#1 and #2) -10 times for each grit.
2) #2 blade is replaced with #3 blade.
3) Sharpen #1 and #3 10 times for each grit. Note that blade #1 is re-cycled through all four grits.
4) #1 blade is replaced with #2 blade.
5) Sharpen #2 and #3 - 10 times for each grit. Note that is #2 blade re-cycled through all four grits.
This doesn't make sense to me! Am I missing something?

They are saying each single blade should have 20 strokes
Pass # 1
----------
with blade 1 and 2
Do 10 Strokes with both blades in jig
Net outcome Blade 1: 10 Stroke Blade 2: 10 Strokes
------------------------------------------------------------
Pass # 2
----------
with blade 1 (already 10 strokes) and blade 3 ( 0 Strokes)
Do 10 Strokes on these 2 blades in jig
Net outcome
Blade 1: 20 strokes (10 previous, 10 this pass. Done!)
Blade 3: 10 strokes (0 previous, 10 this pass)
Pass #3
---------
with blade 2 at 10 strokes, blade 3 just got 10 strokes
10 Strokes on this pass to both blades in jig
Net outcome:
blade 2 at 20 strokes (10 previous, 10 this pass)
blade 2 at 20 strokes (10 previous, 10 this pass)
I watched the video!
1) Sharpen the first two blades (#1 and #2) -10 times for each grit.
2) #2 blade is replaced with #3 blade.
3) Sharpen #1 and #3 10 times for each grit. Note that blade #1 is re-cycled through all four grits.

5) Sharpen #2 and #3 - 10 times for each grit. Note that is #2 blade re-cycled through all four grits.

Peachtree Quik-Hone
I have just used my 12" Quik-Hone on my Dewalt double sided planer knives. I too found that starting over on one of the knives with a larger grit didn't make sense. But honing the double sided blades became quite easy after I marked this out on paper first. Here's the order I used to hone these blades:
Blade Edge/Blade Edge
1A 2A Pass 1 on all grits
1B 3A Pass 2 on all grits
2B 3B Pass 3 on all grits
The order can be any order you prefer, this is what worked for me.
I do have a concern about using this with the Dewalt Planer knives: The grind on the Dewalt knives no not appear to be exactly 45° on these knives and the honing process sharpens the narrow (outer) edge of the knife, not making a flat grind. I have yet to test these sharpened knives in my planer but will do so soon.
Anyone else experience this? I have yet to find the documentation on the exact angle of the grind on this brand of knives.
