Like their 9" vise. Blows everything else out of the water price-wise, and hasn't been replaced.
I have one of those. I had to correct some machining inaccuracies with a file and my try square, but it works fantastic now, and it was dirt cheap...

This kind of stinks. They got rid of the 8" jointer without a replacement, and now the 6". All that leaves them with is that wierd 7" version... Probably not a bad machine, but where are you gonna get knives for it?

Nice score, the store near me would not take the 20% coupon. Still very happy with my brand new tool and think you will be too. Hint: attaching both end panels should be your last step.

Strong son-in-law visited Thrusday evening and the joiner was completed and tested Friday. Total time to completion was about 6 hours. Edged some pine and some teak. Worked well. I think I'm happy with bargin basement joiner. Time will tell.

Normally not, but each store seems to have it own policies. If the HF is not to far from your home, try it. Update: The base of the joiner will not fit onto the Herc-u-lift. Double MDF and 4 casters later, I now have a mobile base. Still awaiting arrival of strong son.

I am now 4.5 hours into assembly and I am beginning the Rigid Herc-lift fitting. I have success with two of these in the past, so hopefully it will go faster. TheGeneral Machinery instructions are hilarious. The end panels are installed ( and uninstalled) at least twice. The drawings say not to scale which is a real understatement. The drawings and the instructions sometimes use different names for the same part. On the bright side all the parts were there and the thing fits together rather well. I don't recall who said they completed the whole thing in 4 hours but you must be a frickin genius. (I reject the alternate explanation). Once the Herc-lift is mounted under the joiner I then await the next visit from a well muscled son. I hope to finish before the first snowfall. If there are other gluttons for punishment here, the Schererville Indiana store has 3 in stock.

The Pineville, NC store has this with a yellow clearance tag for $199. I didn't ask about how many they had in stock, but they have at least the one on display. If someone in the area is looking for one, call that store.

That's what I mean. If you like it in it's current capacity, buy now.

I'm holding off from immediately ordering the Ridgid, as I need to really get my shop back in order first. I still run into issues trying to assemble things as I did today. Stepping over things, nearly ripping my shirt on stuff. I could and should have assembled outside, but I need that ability when it rains. Going to rethink where stuff is then make the decision on a big or small jointer.

The thing about HF is that discontinued doesn't always really mean discontinued. A while back when I was updating my tool list for insurance purposes I was looking up the value of some of the HF stuff I've bought. A good many of the items I looked up on the website came back as not current model numbers. The thing was that they still had the identical tool available for sale but under a different part number. I'm thinking that sometimes when they change suppliers they don't really change the design but just change the model number.

In this case though it would be a good thing if they really do discontinue this jointer and come out with a more up to date design at hopefully a very competitive price.
