Ryobi + 1 tools, 50% off retail at HD

See this on Slickdeals.com. It says 'select tools', but it looks like quite a selection.

It says online or in store.

You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

A clarification for those that haven't followed the link yet- it's a mail in rebate. Not an in store discount.

Too bad only the chainsaw comes with a battery, and it comes with the small battery. I'd be in for several of those tools if I could get a few batteries at the same time.

I might pick up the miter saw just to have one around. I use my circular saw for crosscutting since I got rid of my RAS. I have one ryobi battery that would work for the handful of times I need a miter saw.

Sorry about that! I was in a rush and wanted to get it posted before I left the house, I didn't read it thoroughly.

One of the nice things about the One+ system is that you can buy the batteries separately at a reasonable price. I have a bunch of them, and I only have one type of battery to worry about charging. My favorite is the impact driver. Worth its weight in gold for driving screws, IMHO.

I haven't noticed an appreciable difference between the larger and smaller batteries. Not saying there isn't one, but I don't choose one or another when it comes to a job.
I have a little blog about my shop

IME the only advantage of the compact batteries is less weight because they just don't have the endurance. For heavy applications like saws stick with the P103 2.4V Li batteries for best results

Thanks for the tip! Wanted an extra LI battery (they are so much better than the NiCD) anyway, and a second charger (one in the house, one in the shop). So I got the chainsaw (P542). Not bad for should turn out to be about $70.

BTW the chainsaw is pretty neat. Obviously a far cry from a finely tuned gas powered one, but much easier than cutting by hand. As a test I cut a good 4" diameter bone-dry Sumak stem, it took about 12 seconds.

Like reviewers say the chains moves fairly slowly, but it cuts OK. No cord, no gas, no starting, compact and light, it'll come in handy a lot in the yard.

                  Thanks again for the tip!

It's not, but it seems that HD has changed their policy on PMing the web site, and they were willing to PM that price - so I got one.
