I picked up the Kreg K3 set shortly after it came out, and I must agree with everyone else—it's a high-quality, very convenient to use jig.

As Loring said, there are many advantages to a molded plastic jig, and the plastic seems to be a fiber-reinforced, heavy-duty plastic.

I mounted mine on a chunk of plywood with a cleat on the bottom that I clamp in my bench vise to use. I also installed a piece of T-track beside the jig so I can adjust the stop over a longer range. That hasn't been as useful as I expected, but it looks cool.

I also REALLY like the dust collection attachment; you don't have to stop every so often to clear the shavings out of the way.

If you can find a way to afford the full kit, I'd say go for it! The convenience and ease of use are definitely worth the price.

BTW, I don't own stock in Kreg, but maybe I should…

+1 one the Kreg being awesome! I used to thing it was rediculous and cheesy, but when I was doing from casework I bought the Rocket jig version to see if I liked it, and I found that I LOVED it. Super convenient, accurate, and delivers fast and reliable fastening.

I then found a K3 set on clearance at Lowes for about $80. I was able to sell my Rocket kit with a couple of home made face clamps that I made to work with the block.

I have the jig attached to a piece of plywood that I can clamp on my bench with a god and a vise. The dust collection works extremely well, and with the additional support/ stop, it's enough for a small to mid sized panel to be supported.

The jig has also helped me to a lot of repairs that would be impossible otherwise. Fixing stair treads that have cracked, re-attaching runners in old cabinetry. It's a wonderful tool.

The link comes up to a Dewalt outlet. I tried to search both 'Kreg' and 'pocket hole' on the site and came up with no results. Am I missing something?

EDIT: Did a google search for Kreg and the first hit was this page.

The K4MS comes up at $132.99, while the K3MS on Amazon lists for $139.00.

So, if you 'buy' a Lowe's gift card today($500+), Lowe's will add 10% of the value to the card in a few days. Make your purchase with a mover's coupon(10%) and Bob's your uncle. Then, you will have plenty left over to buy some more goodies!

Seeing very few substantive deals on the full Kreg system - I bought the Kreg Jr. system ($40) from Amazon.com

I'm very pleased with the system, and would not hesitate to recommend it.

I just saw an email from my local Rockler store this moring advertizing some Kreg sales this week. Most clamps are 20% off. The K4master is $139 and come with a box of 500 screws. Looks like it is offered online too.
