Thanks, Lonnie for the tips and pics of your base -looks very solid!. I have an unused HTC 2000 in my shop and so decided to use it in combination with a solid plywood platform, similar to what you have.

One question, Lonnie, did you bolt the legs of the jointer directly to the plywood base? If so, did you insert any rubber washers or other vibration absorbing material between the plywood and bottom of the legs?

      Thanks guys,

I bolted the jointer directly to the plywood base with carriage bolts countersunk into the bottom layer of plywood. No rubber washers. Plywood bolted to the steel webbing of the mobile base with carriage bolts countersunk into the top layer of plywood. Not sure, but I probably built the frame first, then cut the plywood insert to fit.

I mounted the lifting wheel on the infeed side. If mounted on the outfeed side, it will obstruct the dust port. If mounted on the front, it will be a tripping hazard and may be unstable.

Great deal. Got mine for $189 on a regional clearance. Saw the price at one store and they were sold out. Did alot of running around and finally got lucky. Turned out it was just one region and some stores that were only a few miles apart wern't selling them at the same price.

congrats on the find. enjoy your new jointer. i've had one just like lonnies for 5 years now. and remember, a tool gotten at a great price works better than a tool purchased at full price.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.

A very opportunistic fellow in Tampa grabbed all these awhile back and is now reselling them locally on Craigslist for over double what he paid. My local HDs had the same story (there are two within 3 miles of me): guy came in, bought the last 4, guy came in, bought the last two.

I was just hoping to upgrade over my 4 1/8th Craftsman. It's gotta be the jointer that's off and not the operator, right

It is ringing up at $107 in the Denver area but there are none in stock from Loveland to Castle Rock and east to Stapleton.

I wish HD online would price match. :-( I'd be willing to pay for someone to pick one up for me and ship it to me. I'd even pay a finders fee.

I might as well, but shipping I'm sure would be expensive.

I think you're going to be hard pressed finding them anywhere near Southern Cali. They went on clearance around a year ago here. And even then I have to call half a dozen stores to find one. It was about the same time they had the ~$100 Dewalt DW735. Oh the good ole days
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

It looks like the stores in Central Texas may never have had them in store. I went into two seperate HD's here and talked with the tool manager. First, they have no clue what the tool is. Second, the sku doesn't register in the inventory computer for them at all. They are nice and are trying just not successful.

Sometimes you get lucky. Today on a whim called the local HD and they didn't have any in stock. Asked them to check other stores in the area and they said the Passaic store had one in inventory but it probably was a mistake. The Passaic store said they couldn't give me a visual confirmation over the phone. Since I needed some other items, drove the 15/20 minutes to that store. No one could find the jointer anywhere and they assumed it was not there and not taken off inventory. I decided to look around and found it, in the original factory pack, in another section, on the top tier of a pallet rack. Even better surprise - on checkout it rang up at $94.03 plus tax. So for $97.32 and less than an hour time, actually got a deal.
