When you consider lifetime warranty, could be a winner!

I go this router for Christmas but had to swap it for a different one because the plunge base was sticky. When i went to the store I found this router with the lower price, but they only had the older model - the one with 12 amps and two collets. The plunge base on this router is great. I am actually glad I got the older model. I have not used many routers, but this router is a great kit in my opinion. I debated of the Bosch 1617EVSPK, but settled for the Ridgid because I like the height adjustment better and it has a lifetime warranty.

I sure hope you're not really under the assumption that Ridgid tools made by TTI have a lifetime warranty because they don't. Time and time again people keep making this claim and they are incorrect. If the TTI manufactured tools have not been properly registered into the Limited Lifetime Service Agreement Program then they are not covered if they should fail after the 3 Year Warranty runs out. And, the 3 Year Warranty does not cover the repair or replacement of normal wear and tear items like the Limited Lifetime Service Agreement does. I sure hope that your Ridgid tools were properly registered into the LLSA Program cause if you bought them more than 90 days ago you are now SOL.

I registered them right away. I have 4 Ridgid tools. My table saw and spindle sander were registered, and I received a customer number for the LLSA. When I check on line on my account with Ridgid it clearly says I have LSA with the table saw and sander. I just got the other two tools and have sent in the necessary paperwork, and will check in on the status. I think a lot of people think you automatically get the lifetime warranty, but I know you have to register first.

Good router! I've have the original model which I got not long after they first came out. That original model came with some nice features, got very good reviews, and had a few extras like the centering cone, dust pickup fitting, above table adjustment with an included T-handle, etc.

I've never had any problems with mine and use it in my Rockler table top and the Porter-Cable 690 compatible plate fits it. (All you have to do is drill a hole in that plate to use the included T-handle.)

For in-hand use, the Porter-Cable edge guide that Home Depot sells, fits it perfectly and one of the bases, accepts the Porter-Cable type guide bushings.

I got one for $129 in northern California. Just good timing to replace my stolen Bosch. There's also porter Cable 892 for $99.

I don't know why, but the tools section of my HD in Seattle has *nothing* on sale from the non-cordless department. Bummer, as I can use the 892.

one more ridgid router combo here. out the door for $101.12. i found a HD that honors HF coupons and adds another 10% competitor matching discount.

and regarding ridgid's warranty or service agreement coverages for power tools, here are their coverages:

                    ridgid 3-Year Limited Service Warranty

                    http://www.ridgid.com/manuals/RIDGID3yr.pdf

                    ridgid LSA:

                    http://www.ridgid.com/THD/lsa.html

it should be noted that both programs cover normal wear items.

the older gray stationary power tools ( the ones made by emerson electric) did carry a lifetime warranty based on the serial number of the tools. it is as follows:

I was in my local (Binghamton, NY area) HD this morning and it's marked down to $129. It's not a "clearance" sticker though, just a price reduction. Great deal considering that the trim router, sitting next to it is priced at $99!

                        $129 here too...

I also got one in Seattle for $129 last night. Had to call around and got the last one in the store... said there were a few more in the area.

hi toolguy. I've heard about the HF coupon deals at places like HD, but which coupon did you use and how did you ask? Is this written somewhere or just common knowledge that they are interchangable?

Pick up the last on in the box yesterday. They had the Porter Cable 892 for $99 but only had the display model which was only the motor and the base, everything else was missing. Had asked the tool guy if they would give me a better offer since it was missing all the parts but claimed it was marked down because it was the display and missing parts but would take another 10% off, but even then to buy the missing collets would be about $30 plus shipping, so I grabbed the last Ridgid in the box instead.

jgantz...it unfortunately varies from store to store. some stores refuse to honor the HF coupons, although HD has a policy of trying to match the competition. i've found a store where the CS staff accepts the 20% off any single item HF coupons and then adds in an additional "match the competition" discount of 10%. they did this on their own with no prodding from me. so its the store where i try to make all my HD tool purhcases.

again, not all stores do this. i had one store that refused to honor the HF 20% single item coupon for the purchase of a $299 ridgid r4511 10" table saw. a call to HD customer support in atlanta resulted in atlanta instructing the store to grant the 20% discount. that store refused to grant the additional 10% price match discount and i didn't feel like arguing about it. you just have to find a store that is customer focused. this should be easier now that HD is actively focussing on customer service according to a friend who works in one of my local stores (not the one that is discount friendly) and the recent worksharp 3000 incident. HTH.
