    Hitachi wide belt sander $99

I was at my local lowes last night and I saw the Hitachi belt and disc sander on sale marked from $179 down to $99. they had a PC one there so it looks like that might be replacing it.
The tag on the machine was marked down from $199 to $179 but the shelf sticker said $99.
Might be a good deal if you are looking for one, which I was not.
    looks like this

For the money, even at $179, that's a very nice combo sander. I've had one for a couple of years now and would recommend it to anyone looking for that size of a sander.

They've been closing them out for a while now. http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=51328 I picked up a display unit for a $50 offer to the manager.

Sarge did a pretty good review on the SB10Y http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=31397

I bought one not too long after they came out to replace my 6" Delta. Good sander with forced air dust extraction.

Looks like they are switching over to the new line up from Porter Cable.

The only hassle is a lack of support for the 8" disk. The only ones they sell are in a 3 pack of multiple grits. (fine/med/course...your guess as to the actual grits is as good as mine.) I ordered a 50 pack of 120 grit on line.

Anyone seen these in Florida anywhere?

I've been looking for one of these for months....anyone seen one anywhere in FL? Gainesville, Ocala, Tampa, Orlando, West Palm, anywhere in between? I travel for work, and can hit anywhere mostly!

          Appreciate it!

You might try calling one of the stores and ask them if they can locate one on their computer system. I believe the lowes item number is 251508. That's how I was able to locate the one I got. Good luck.

Can't believe I missed first thread on the clearance of these. Since the beginning of the year I've been wanting to get a sander like this. I'll have to check to see if I can find anymore in my area. Thanks to tbarn for this thread about them again.

I found one. Actually three, but I only need one. After another member let me know of some in another state I decided to first call some Lowes further away from me and on the third call a Lowes found three in the system at another store. Lowe's at 3807 Farm to Market 1092, Missouri City, TX 77459 (281)*403-8300 had two left yesterday.

The manager wouldn't budge on the $99 clearance price (even with the receipt from tommyt654) and the customer service desk didn't have any 10% off coupons to give me. It didn't look like they were in a hurry to sell them, because there was no indication in the tool area that they even existed, no floor model, no clearance sticker, there wasn't even a PC replacement. I walked across to the hardware desk and looked up in the racks and saw the three way up on top.

If anyone else has luck getting one of these at this store for less than $99 please let me know so I can get a refund on the price difference.

Cool, even at $99 it was a good deal.

FYI, Appleton, WI store had one display model left as of 8/28 for $60. Someone could have this shipped to their store if interested. This store also accepts Harbor Freight 20% (will give you 10%) off coupons.

                      Good luck,

Last week, the Lowes in Highland Heights, KY had one new in the box for $99 and the display still available.

                            Don,

I hate to say this now, but this is the first time I saw this thread.
You can get a ton of different 8" PSA discs from Amazon, any grit any amount and at fairly good prices. Just enter sanding discs in the "search window".

I got that sander a while ago at Loews for $99.00, and I was going to pull the trigger on a PC for $179. Of course the PC is all metal, while the Hitachi is mainly plastic, but considering that it's not a tool I use everyday, I think that finally saving money on my tool addiction is kind of neat.
