Explanation that Avanti trademark was licensed to Freud and now is not any more sounds plausible except for one fact. I have an old Avanti blade made by Freud which I bought at Lowes (actually it is exactly TK806 which prompted this discussion - good blade). If HD had owned that trademark - I doubt HD would want to sell products with their trademark at the store of a major competitor. If Avanti trademark had been owned by Freud in the past - then selling it was a silly thing to do. I think it was licensed to Freud in the past but I doubt HD owned it - somebody else likely did.
