    Ott Lights

If you like Ott lights, and you are in the need for some better task lighting at your bench or lathe or whatever, then you might find this useful. Joann Fabrics has a 50% off sale on the lights, go here http://www.joann.com/joann/search/se...questid=180518

This is about the lowest I've seen for ott lights across the board, I just purchased the 3-1 craft light, a friend of mine has one at his lathe and I really liked the way it illuminated the work plus the mag lens is nice for checking on things.

Oh ... I also used a free shipping coupon of CCABINJAFS10

I followed the link, but Joann's says it never heard of "Ott."
Is there another name for it?

    Never mind.
It worked on the second try.

They are cool looking, but even at half price seems a bit expensive.

You will not get any argument from me that even 1/2 off they are a bit expensive, the deal with them is they are Full Spectrum lights which are as close to natural daylight as you are going to get indoors. Basically they illuminate and render colors exceptionally well. Next time you are in the fabric store check them out

My wife had an Ott light, but it finally breathed it's last breath. I found a full spectrum light at Menard's for around $30.00. Can't see any difference between them.

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

They see you coming for specialist craft stuff worse than for specialist wood working stuff.

My wife bought an Ott light several years ago when they were the only ones (or at least one of few) with full spectrum lights. She wanted it for her cross-stitching projects. The light was very nice & yes expensive, even on sale.

The full specrum light is more of a function of the lamp (bulb) than the fixture.
