Ditto in Madison too. When I was in HD today I checked and both the drill press and jointer were still marked at full price. I did notice that they no longer had any of the DeWalt DW75 planers though but I don't know if they clearanced them out or just sold out at their normal price.

Likewise still normal price in the the Minneapolis/St. Paul area (as of Thurs). However, I did notice that one of the stores had four drill presses on Monday, but were down to one on Thursday. I wonder if someone bought the other three for full price with hopes of getting a price match once the clearance starts. That takes more guts that I have (and more cash). RE the DeWalt planer, an HD sales associate told me a disturbing story about how one of his co-workers bought the store's remaining stock of three or four units by 9am of the day the clearance hit. Coincidently you can now find this planer new in box on Craigslist locally.

If you need one I would call Corp. and complain, H.D,s policy is that employees may not make purchases of clearance items within 24 hrs of the beginning of a clearance sale, I definetly would file a complaint if thats the case and I needed one.

Checked 3 HD in Northern NJ for the band saw. Two still selling at $370 (only one in stock at each store) and one didn't have any in stock. I didn't talk to anyone but the tag was not marked for clearance.

Will check more in the next few days.

I finally scored a bandsaw tonight. Luckily one of the local stores had them marked down in the system but still had $369 on the display so they hadn't sold out yet.

No dice on the R4511 though. I called a LOT of stores, and there were only a few that still showed one unit in inventory. At more than one of these stores, the tool dept. associate told me that the vendor had come in and cut the power cord on the remaining display unit so that it couldn't be sold. Apparently they're gone for good now.

I haven't looked for a DP yet, but I guess that will be next since I won't be buying a TS right now. I've always wanted a floorstanding DP, and that is a great deal.

My local HD has the bandsaw and drill press. When I asked them (over the phone) what the prices were they gave me the old non-discount prices. I don't remember exactly what they were but NEITHER of the prices given to me over the phone were real bargains.

When I asked them about these prices mentioned here(149.50 for the drill press 184.50 for the bandsaw) they kind of laughed and thought I was joking.

Can I get these for the clearance prices or is it up to the individual stores to determine if the product is on clearance pricing?

Apparently this markdown is up to the individual stores. Two stores in my area had the bandsaw marked down, but one store had already sold out of them. The other 5 or so stores in my area still had them at $369. One associate told me that the bs was not being clearanced across the board, but was just going "inactive" in the stores where they were marked down. He didn't seem very sure of himself though.

I had the same thing happen to me last fall involving the DeWalt Planers. All the stores in my area sold out at clearance except one & they laughed & acted like I was trying to pull a fast one. Three months later I walked into the same store & bought the planer at half the retail price.

I was able to find the last bandsaw, at $184.50, at one store in our area. The other stores had them marked $369.00. This is the first real bargain I've been able to find.

I just picked up the BS (184.50) and the DP at Lincoln HD store. It is about 20 miles northeast of Sacramento, CA
The store still has at least one jointer ($199), and a couple drill press (150)

I should finally be able to start setting these up tonight, very excited. Top of the pile is Bandsaw.

Dewi, I called Corp on this matter of a tool dept. assoc. telling you a vendor came in and cut the power cord. They are investigating that as I was told that would nullify their vendor agreement. That being said I believe that theres a chance you might be able to still get 1 of the saws if you want, I gave them my no. as a contact on this matter and should be hearing from them soon. I really doubt that Ridgid would do that unless it was one of the recalled units, and even then more than likely they,ll fix the arbor 1st and then resell it. I,ll let everyone here know whenI get more info, Tom

Tom, it wasn't just one person that told me this - it was two or three, all at different stores in central / north AL. One of them said he thought it was related to "some kind of recall" (I knew what the recall was, but apparently he didn't). It doesn't make sense to me that they would destroy them instead of trying to recoup some money by selling them, but I suspected that instead of, or in addition to, the recall the liability of the granite top had become too much and they decided to cut their losses. Just an uneducated guess on my part.

I gave up after that and bought a Craftsman hybrid last night. But it's still in the box at the moment and I can return it. Keep me posted. Thanks.
