Can anyone comment on the quality of these clamps? I've never seen one in the flesh, so to speak.

Probably good enough for me to take some 12" home when I stop by WC this evening. That's just a little more than the regular price for the HF clamps of the same style/size, and I'm guessing better quality.

        6" clamps

I have a few of the 6" clamps. I purchased them because they were cheap. Lets say they are cheap. The 6" clamps flex a lot when in use. I can only imagine how the longer ones flex under load. You get what you pay for with clamps. There is a reason pros buy Bessey.

jimglassford, do you have THESE Jet clamps, or a similar model? I have a couple JET speed clamps -- 36", I think -- on which the bars are too limber to be of much use. I wouldn't want any more of them, either, at any price.

But the listing for these says the bar size is 1" x 5/16", which is equivalent to Bessey's heavy-duty Tradesman model. These JETs also supposedly have the same 4" throat as the HD Tradesman. Which makes me wonder if the listing is correct, because the list price on the HD Bessey is roughly twice the list price of these JETs.

Brazos, if you do take a look and could let us all know what you find, we'd be grateful.

            Jet clamps

            Larry G,

You are correct, I have the smaller, wimpier version, not the ones currently on sale. The Jets are half the price of the F type and 2 1/2 times cheaper than the Trademan version. I have neither. I know one is made in China and one is made in the USA or Germany.

Now you have an excuse to buy a few more

Personally, I hate these kind of clamps. The problem is the rocking motion you have to use to get them to lock when tightening them up. I much prefer the ones with the silver tabs(#146981) you push to release or change rough width. If you like this style, more power to you, prob. a good deal. Just my 2c worth.
