Ridgid granit top table saw $399

The other thread seems to have aged off the list, so I am starting a new one.

The local HDs have reduced the price on the Ridgid granite top table saw to $399. Add a 10% coupon to get it for $359.

Very tempting at that price. However, it is a 480 lb saw. I'm not sure how I would get it into my basement by myself. Maybe I'll post another thread for some brainstorming :-)

The saw comes in several smaller, more manageable pieces. The largest and heaviest is the main enclosure, top, trunnions, and motor in one assembly...I'd guess that this portion would weigh in the 275# to 350# range. The top is removal and should share a fair amount of weight (be sure to check for any shims and their locations). The motor could be removed to shave additional weight too. Either way, you'd want some help.

Is this at all HD's? The one by me still shows it at $499.

      Thanks.

I would venture to say that this could go the way of the DeWalt 735 Planer in a while. My local store has 7 of them stacked up neatly and the price is still $499, but with this new figure a $100 drop it indicates they are on the list to closeout. And with the current economic state and the new year around the corner I would not be surprised to see $199 in another mo. or so.I would hold out. Plus they have been having arbor problems with this model and there has been a recall on certain ones with specific manufacturing dates. I,ll wait and if the price gets right jump on it ,but lose the granite top and go back to steel. I think that was just a sales gimmick anyway, just my 2cents

          $399 at my local HD.

I'm quite certain I would not have any luck using tommyt654's methods. When they went through the big Ridgid grey-to-orange changeover a few years ago, ablolutely none of the reported deals were made available locally. The managers here apparently think that 10% off is a good deal on a demo unit with no documentation and missing parts. NIB? Fuggedaboudit!

Yeah, some of them are pretty obtuse. Something that big & heavy being closed out would cost more to ship it than sell at a deep discount. A BORG employee once described thousands of square feet of carpet being destroyed, too pricey to ship.

You might start looking for Direct Tools outlet in your area. I don't know if they have a website, but check Prime Outlets or Outlet Malls of America. Apparently, they have replaced the old Cummins tool shows as an outlet for Ryobi & Ridgid recon tools.

I pick my RTS up about weeks ago, for $ 499.00. I hope they drop the price, I will get back $100.00 and buy blades for the DeWalt 735 Planer again.....

                  Still $499 around here.

Also keep in mind that there is a friends and family rebate still going on for ridgid that would get you another 20% off. I finally got my $200 from the September f&f rebate. Slow, but I have to admit that it showed up.

Never had any luck trying to get a closeout price from Home Depot except for the mobile stand. Now Lowes I can occasionally get a deal,i.e. unifence. Two different philosphies on running a store.

In general, it's 6 of one half-dozen of the other. I typically have much better luck and interactions at my local HD than I do at my local Lowes. I think it all depends on the employees and managers at a given store than it does with any over-riding corporate policy.

Most Home Depot clearance prices are chain or at least region-wide. Most of Lowes clearance deals are store specific.

Pay little attention to the tag price - make sure they run or scan it for you to find the latest price.

can anyone post a receipt showing 399 price? would help some of us price match that at the store.

I am bringing this thread back up to make another request for a receipt scan. I think I'm going to bite the bullet next week. Thanks.

I'm almost sure that I saw that machine at the Loveland Colorado HD for the price mentioned of $399.00, last week.
