It probably is a good router kit, just make sure you understand it's a single speed router. I have a single speed router kit (not this, Hitachi - KM12SC) for handheld use and for handheld use it works great but I have a variable speed in a table. I would not recommend a single speed router as your only one.

Great choice for hand use...excellent plunge base, excellent Body Grip feature, built like a tank, but as Vaking points out, it would benefit from a speed controller for table use. Since it doesn't have soft start or any other electronic interfaces, it's a good candidate for one of those outboard speed controllers should you ever want to add one.
