I was at a HD this evening, probably my 3rd visit to a HD in the last 6 months, and saw the Ridgid R4511 TS for my first time. Regularly $599, it was discounted to $499. With the granite top and the Herc-U-Lift base it loooked lake a good buy, especially if also using a 10% off coupon.

get 'em while they're hot. rumor mill has it that the 4511 will be dicontinued shortly. hang on to your receipt for a possible post purhcase price adjustment .there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it. -
The recall due to the arbor flying apart when using a dado blade must not have helped sales any.Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler

There's also a Ridgid "friends and family" rebate going on right now. Google for the forms. With a purchase of this amount, you should get 15-20% back on the rebate.
However, I'm still waiting for $200 from September's f&f rebate. So I'm not all that excited about their rebate process.Comment

Yea, I just saw the "friends and family" rebate. It says that the $499 gets you 15%, and $500 up gets 20%. Buy another Ridgid product on the list and end up getting another $100 rebate on the TS. I noticed that on the Ridgid forum page they have a "sticky" on the recall and another on assembly hints. Looks like the saw was starting to get a following, too bad it's being discontinued. The granite top w/wings weighes 188#. I'd check it out more, but with the BT3100 and a Grizzly1023SL I need to back away. A trip to HF today didn't help any either.Lanny

Nope...the recall was due to possible arbor breakage. I've only heard of one cracking behind the throat plate. Most owners love the granite top. Nice deal if you can pick one up in the $400 range...riving knife, cabinet mounted trunnions, one piece cast arbor carriage, large handwheels, Herculift, a steel t-square fence, and 450# of mass.
For me, the jury is still out on the granite, but Craftsman has introduced one, Steel City has several, and General International now has one...all appear to have some connection with Steel City's Orion division.Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.
