    Menards 25% off Stanley Toolboxes/Storage

For those in the upper Midwest - I was just in my local Menards and they had 25% off all Stanley Storage, including Toolboxes.

The timing was good because after messing with a variety of cabinets, shelves, etc, I decided to start keeping all of my related tools, jigs, etc in appropriately sized toolboxes, grouped by activity. All of my paint brushes, scrapers, rollers, etc are in one large one. I have another for my drill press, another for my lathe, one for sharpening supplies, etc...

So far it is working well. I keep the toolbox near the machine and in the case of mobile stuff, I can decide if I want to pull out what I need or bring the whole toolbox.

I do the same thing. I have toolboxes for my electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, tie downs and a traveling tool box. I like your idea for one for the painting stuff. May have to stop by Menard's and pick-up another toolbox.

I thought I would do that once, .. But once I got started I found I have a lot of multi-tasking tools,.. Which box to I put the Channel Locks in?? Plumbing? Electrical? with the other hammers??

... So now I just have some mostly empty tool boxes with a the few uni-taskers & a list of what multi-taskers to add in when necessary.

I missed the line about "with the other hammers" the first time I read it. LOL

In my case, that is still where pegboard comes in. I am using the toolboxes for truly special purpose stuff and continuing to use my pegboard and shelves for the more general stuff. As part of painting I nearly always need a screwdriver to remove hinges, switch plates, etc, and I know I need to grab one off the pegboard, same as before. BUT - I won't have to go searching my workshop, garage and kitchen junk drawer for the right paintbrush, roller, scraper, spackling tool, etc

Any organization strategy is going to run into things that don't neatly fit the scheme and what works for one person most definitely does not work for all.

They're also 25% off tools and safety, a good time to buy a bunch of those hammers to fill up your new box.
