Rigid 6 inch joiner at HD

I just scored the Rigid JP0610 Joiner at the local (Baton Rouge,La.) BORG for a paltry $159.00, regularly $449.00. They had one left, but my buddy that has been contemplating a jointer can't be found, so I guess he is going to be kicking himself Monday morning.

Wow, how did you score that? Was it the battered display model? I thought I got a good deal a few weeks ago getting this for $299 minus 10%. It is a very nice jointer, I really enjoy mine.

It is still shrink wrapped in the box, never opened.

The story that I got was that these were the last two Rigid jointers in stock that had come from the Emerson factory. I'm not sure who make these for Rigid now.

This HD was having a tent sale, and these two joiners were stuck in the corner of the tent. I had to look twice at the price. It still had the yellow tagged $299 price sticker, and an additional green $159 price tag.

Great Score! I got the battered floor model for $179. The only consolation is that it was already assembled. Still have to get the knives and table setup correctly.

Think thrice about that idea. A 6" jointer is too small to sleep on and too cold to sleep with. Then again, if you give it to her for your anniversary, it may not seem so cold by comparison!!![B)][:0]

Yeh I just saw them at my home depot for $299, they had a floor model and two still in the box. But unless I want to sleep in the garge I can't get it. But maybe if they drop to $159 I can talk my LOML into letting me get one.

Offer them the 159 and see what they say. I offered the 199 and they took it. It can not hurt to ask !!!!

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I just offered $160 for the display model (only one left in Houston according to the computer). It had a tag of $299. They countered with $180.66 which I accepted (they explained they track special discount prices by having them with .66 cents!)

Anyhow. It was missing one nob, one nut and the manual. The manager said to get it home, fully inventory anything that may be missing and let them know. They'll order them for me no charge...

Not as good as NIB for $159. But I'm happy with what I got it for.

So how do you know if the jointer they have in stock is the new or old version of the JP0610?

                        If it looks like this

                        http://www.ridgid.com/newsite/images...ols/JP0610.jpg

with orange sides on the cabinet, it's the new one. The old one has grey sides.
