Festool Circ Saw on CL (So FL)

This is the first I am seeing a Festool on CL, or close to being affordable :

FESTOOL TS 75 EQ PLUNGE CIRCULAR SAW - $200 (COOPER CITY)

    (I checked - a new one costs around $450)

But without a guide-rail, it might be just another CS?

I don't think I'll be tempted. Nowadays my CS is not being used enough to justify the money.

I saw a review of three rail saws in the latest issue of Wood magazine. A DeWalt, a Makita, and the Festool were compared and the good and bad points discussed. I still don't see the value. My Ridgid CS and a shop made saw board appear to do everything these things do for less than a fifth of the cost. I suppose a production shop may find a value, but don't they usually have panel saws? What am I missing here?

Woodcraft is currently selling the TS75EQ for $625. It comes with a set of short rails (or else it isn't a TS75EQ). I didn't see anything in the CL ad saying there were no rails, even though they are not attached in the photo. They're probably in the Systainer.

Three advantages over a standard circ. saw: 1) plunge cutting made easy, 2) variable speed, and 3) it's a Festool.

If it's all there, I'd grab it for $200...

        A lack of common sense?

I've looked at Festool stuff. Undeniably nice stuff, but not that much nicer of your shop-made solution to warranty the price.

Now, for $200, I'd be on that like white on rice. If it doesn't rock your boat you could trade some Festoolian for something like a Unisaw.

He called back now and I found out that he does not have the guide rails. Says this (CS) and the router (also Festool, another advt) were both in the house he bought recently ! Talk about a seller in a hurry!

I did see somewhere the saw itself sells for $450. Not still convinced I could make a profit out of it, particularly without the rail. Maybe I could sell it for $300. (Obviously the guy does not know about it, else he could have done the same). Wouldn't like to be stuck with it. Chewing it over...

You could check out the cost of replacement rails, just to see if it's financially feasible, then you could use the thing, or expect to get a better price if you re-sell it as a complete rig. If the parts are like the tools, though, they're probably too expensive to bother with.

The saw on it's own is pretty much useless without the rail imho but a 55 rail is under $100.

I used to have one and while they are nice I don't miss mine.

Paid $150 for mine off CL. No rails. Not useless without them, but needs the rails to really function as designed. They were using it as a plunge saw to cut out centers on doors to place glass panels. Festool prices are outrageous, but they do have a following.
