    HF Inspection Scope

This is quite a value. Got the HF unit for the $100 sale price - a 20% off weekend special.

Like a borescope but with a 5/8" dia head.

I wish you had told me that earlier.

The HF web site shows $140 - was that an unadvertised sale?

What have you got planned for your fancy new bargain tool?

It was a weekend in-store sale. It ended yesterday. Don't count on the website for in-store pricing, as the online ordering pricing is independent, and often differs from the stores. (Different websites even; harborfreight.com for online orders [has prices], and harborfreightusa.com for retail [usually doesn't have prices]).

can you give us a review? I have the milwaukee and am not impressed with the video quality. I have been tempted to pick one[HF] up, but have not seen any reviews of it yet.

The add says rechargeable lithium battery, but near the bottom it say 4 AA batteries required (not included)?

It also says the screen is detachable and wireless, so I am assuming that you can pull the screen off the main body and use the snake in one hand and the screen in the other? (for example)

I think the camera has the higher res, but the monitor has a 480 x 240 resolution if I recall correctly.

My HF works about as well as can be expected. You have to adjust the probe light level to get the best-quality image. The rechargeable battery is in the monitor. You need 4xAA in the main body. You can mount the monitor on the pistol unit, or take it loose. The connection between them is wireless then, but limited to only a couple of feet separation. It does take some getting used to the mirror-image picture the thing gives you.

                      Thanks,

I have a wireless camera for hooking up trailers, you can push the power button and it switches from regular to mirror, or hold it to shut it off. possibly here too?

There is an "orientation" button on the HF, but it just rotates the view in 90-degree increments. Seems the mirrored aspect remains unaffected.

I might have a later version mirroring works on it.

Hmmmm... Could be. That little PITA problem would've been high on my "bug list".
